Tyler School of Art and Architecture

Graphic identity for the Philadelphia institution for the study of art, design and architecture, a school of Temple University.

The graphic identity is a framework designed to encompass all that Tyler has to offer and highlight the school’s cross-disciplinary focus.

The system utilizes a proprietary typeface, Lumin Tyler, that combines a slab serif with thin glyphs, creating a beautiful contrast.

A monochromatic palette of black, white and gray and heavily contrasted letterforms set off images of work by visiting artists, architects and scholars.

The bold, unique typography and highly structured look is immediately recognizable as Tyler.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
