Anti-Racism Fund and ‘I AM Zine’

Brand identities for two grassroots initiatives in service of the movement for Black lives and active allyship.

The identities are tied stylistically to the distinctive typography of the ‘I AM A MAN.’ signs from the landmark 1968 Memphis protest.

Protesters carrying signs at the historic sanitation workers strike in Memphis in 1968.

The I AM Zine features anti-racist topics and shines a spotlight on Black designers, artists, photographers and writers—both world-renowned and emerging.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
