‘Art and Ideals: President John F. Kennedy’

Design for a permanent living memorial exhibition honoring President Kennedy.

The exhibition establishes an interpretive space that explores President and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s connection with literature, performance, and the visual arts.

The design features a dramatic architectural frieze of LEDs that allows visitors to vividly experience Kennedy’s gifts as an orator, and that amplifies the themes of the exhibition.

The display is divided into four key areas that link the arts to democracy, social change, culture and the White House itself.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
