Balancing innocence and latent brutality, Pentagram's Berlin office designed a logo which features the name BILLIE in bold pink letters with a gun reversed out of the typography, mirroring how a simple plea for help spirals into an accidental hostage drama.
BILLIE is a new film about two mothers and best friends that find themselves trapped in a bank over a mere 300 euros and are mistaken for bank robbers. With the police closing in, they must rely on their unwavering bond and a healthy dose of chaos to escape their predicament.
Written and directed by Sheri Hagen, the film is a multi-layered drama exploring domestic violence, female friendship, and the quest for dignity under dire circumstances. Blending pain with humor, the film highlights the close connection between absurdity and survival. It serves as a powerful plea for solidarity and represents a strong voice for diversity in German cinema.
