IBA’27

Corporate design for The Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Stuttgart 2027

The Weißenhofsiedlung was established as part of the first Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) that took place in 1927.

Fast forward 100 years, the city of Stuttgart is planning to relive the success of the exhibit with IBA 2027.

Our work was informed by the idea of time and how design concepts change over the years. We wanted to approach this fact within the framework of a project lasting more than 10 years.

The corporate identity program is comprised of visual capsules which will update the design over the course of 10 years.

The visual identity touches upon an overarching aim of IBA’27, which entails bringing together small and large building blocks in the metropolis to create a mixed-use productive city.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
