National Academy

Identity and environmental graphics for the institution, including a typographic installation of the Academy's esteemed membership dating back to 1826.

The identity has been refreshed with a new version of the Academy's historic typographic medallion and supporting type, set in Plan, that gives the Academy a more modern look.

The design alludes to the white-on-white ornamental plaster ceilings seen in other parts of the mansion, linking the past to the present in a typographic display that celebrates the Academy’s distinguished membership.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
