‘Sketching with Stickers’

An exhibition of Marina Willer’s artworks on Pith sketchbooks at the Design Museum.

On show as part of this year’s London Design Festival, the ‘Sketching with Stickers’ project reflects Marina’s lifelong love of pattern and colour.

After being on display at the Design Museum, the entire collection of sketchbooks was made available to buy at Pith’s website, with proceeds supporting the humanitarian aid charity Choose Love, which supports women and children in war zones.

Marina customised 50 one-of-a-kind Pith® sketchbooks with joyful compositions made using her signature fluoro stickers.

The result is a vibrant celebration of colour and diversity, showcasing Marina’s distinctive design approach and providing a striking contrast to the overwhelming nature of the digital world that surrounds us.

Marina and her team created a generative tool which people can use to create their own patterns digitally, inspired by the analogue methods and compositions in the exhibition.

Visitors were encouraged to create their own compositions in the playground area of the Museum—this proved extremely popular, with people of all ages having fun making their own patterns with stickers.

Retrospective: London Design Festival

London Design Festival has been an annual celebration of the power of creativity for over 20 years. Since 2008, Pentagram partner Domenic Lippa has served as the LDF’s creative director, responsible every September for the design of a new visual identity. By inventively remixing a few key elements — typography, a signature red (“the colour of London”), and LDF's simple monogram — the program unifies hundreds of events while reaffirming London’s status as a global design capital.
