Studio Theatre

Visual identity, environmental graphics and poster campaigns for the influential theater company in Washington, DC.

The identity captures the ‘made-in-DC’ culture of the non-profit theater company and expresses its creative ambitions as a force for engaging, socially relevant, and artistically daring performances.

The type-driven identity hints at the industrial past of Studio’s home, as well as the creative spirit and resourcefulness of Studio as a theatrical company.

One of the goals of the revitalization was to make Studio a more open and welcoming space for the community, and the redesigned façade announces the theater as a vibrant personality within its neighborhood.

Retrospective: London Design Festival

London Design Festival has been an annual celebration of the power of creativity for over 20 years. Since 2008, Pentagram partner Domenic Lippa has served as the LDF’s creative director, responsible every September for the design of a new visual identity. By inventively remixing a few key elements — typography, a signature red (“the colour of London”), and LDF's simple monogram — the program unifies hundreds of events while reaffirming London’s status as a global design capital.
