Summerbird

Brand identity for the Charlotte, North Carolina fast-casual chicken restaurant.

The design team set out to capture the essence of summertime with a brand identity that’s light-hearted and eye-catching.

The new icon, orange and warm like the sun, is complimented by a color palette of aqua and blue-greens reminiscent of the ocean and the sky on a lazy summer day.

The welcoming, carefree attitude of the new restaurant is not only expressed through its southern inspired food and nostalgic ethos, but also through its interior design.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
