‘The Maze: A Labyrinthine Compendium’

Mazes have been a part of civilisation for at least 4,000 years, and there are more being built now than ever before. What is it about these magical life-size puzzles that continues to intrigue us?

There is a romance in getting lost, and entering a hedge maze in a garden is a kind of abandonment. It is not the same as being lost in the wilderness; it is a contract that ends with being found, however many wrong turns are taken along the way.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
