The Philadelphia Inquirer

Editorial redesign of one of the leading daily newspapers in the US.

This major update—the first in nearly 30 years—is part of the Inquirer’s new editorial, design and operations strategy across its multiple brand platforms.

A simplified layout process allows designers to focus on image editing and additional storytelling forms such as illustration, photo essays, infographic and maps.

The most significant change is a custom-designed suite of fonts that pays homage to The Inquirer's 193-year history.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
