Pentagram

‘The Tenne Principles of Designe’

Our 2023 holiday greeting uses AI to pay an affectionate homage to Dieter Rams’s much-quoted manifesto.

Pentagram reimagined Rams’s famous manifesto using the florid language of Ancient Archaic English and the maximalist design of the King James Bible, first published in 1611.

The card also features a dedication (combined with a heartfelt apology), from Pentagram assuring Rams that no matter how elaborate the language or ornate the form, the clarity of his message will endure forever.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
