Pentagram developed a program of admissions materials for Yale College that make the prestigious university stand out in the highly competitive field of Ivy League schools. Working closely with Yale’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the designers created a series of pieces that give applicants an insider’s view of the school, highlighting experiences unique to Yale.

The Yale College Viewbook is dense with layers of detail that show Yale’s strengths instead of merely describing them — from an annotated map of a residential college, to an illustrated listing of all the theater, music, film, and fine arts offerings in a typical weekend, to a series of vignettes detailing students’ studies abroad, accompanied by the students’ own photographs.

The designers also created a package to help admitted students decide Yale is the right college for them. This includes a folder that opens to reveal a poster of images taken around campus, an essay of thoughts for the incoming class by Jeffrey Brenzel, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions; and “A Yalie’s Guide to New Haven,” a list of notable and favorite spots around town.
