‘3 Days in China’

Documentary film by Andrés Fraga visiting factories that make the Ambessa Play DIY Flashlight.

Three Days in China is a documentary by filmmaker Andrés Fraga. It follows a group of industrial designers visiting factories in Shenzhen where the Ambessa Play DIY Flashlight, a STEM learning kit, is manufactured.

Filmed over three days in October 2023, the film follows Ambessa Play’s founder, Sara Berkai, along with Pentagram’s design team, as they review and sign off the final parts of the flashlight design before going to mass production.

Three Days in China is not just about the making of the Ambessa Play DIY Flashlight, it is a road movie about a visit to eight factories over three days and the conversations about the product and about design in general that take place.
