Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg

Signage and wayfinding system designed for the Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg (BnL)

The BnL is also a cultural meeting point and regularly organizes conferences, exhibitions and events on a number of diverse subjects.

The library’s signage design is based on a modular system that uses numerical and alphabetical cubes.

The ›bibliothèque‹ typeface applied on resin cubes.

The signage plan complements the building’s architectural layout and makes navigation intuitive.

Open spaces across the multi-level library enable visitors to quickly locate areas from afar with minimal information.

25,000 resin cubes, 6000 tableaus and 2,400 numerical shelving characters, enable staff to independently customize information.

Retrospective: Saturday Night Live

When a scruffy after-hours comedy show debuted in NBC’s Studio 8H on October 11, 1975, no one could have known that the entertainment world was about to be changed forever. Over the next half century, Saturday Night Live would launch the careers of countless global stars, create indelible catch phrases, and consolidate the reputations of musical acts from Talking Heads to Kendrick Lamar. Since 1994, Pentagram partner Emily Oberman has been the steward of SNL’s graphic image, from the show’s iconic opening titles, to books celebrating its legacy. With each project, she meets the challenge of acknowledging the franchise’s extraordinary legacy while keeping its profile fresh, surprising, and funny.
