Chateau Engalin

Brand identity for a culinary destination and celebration venue near Toulouse.

Founded by chef, owner, creative director and Master Chef finalist Marwan Badran, Engalin grew from a life lived across cultures and disciplines.

Sophisticated in its architecture, unruly in its spirit, the estate moves fluidly between indoor intimacy and outdoor excess.

The challenge was to design an identity that moves as fluidly as the experience itself. It needed to be Chateau-like and French in its foundations, yet expressive, generous and full of character.

The identity had to act as a unifying force, tying together the many moods of Engalin, from quiet refinement to exuberant celebration.

The colour palette draws directly from the kitchen with a fresh pistachio that references the seasonal local ingredients that feed the changing menu, and a Pomegranate Sumac red nodding to the Marwan’s Middle Eastern origins.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
