De Niro Con

Visual identity and exhibition design for a celebration of the iconic actor.

Drawing on our own love for all things De Niro, Pentagram developed the name, visual identity, messaging and branding for the Con and designed the exhibition.

The identity tapped into the typography found in film scripts and De Niro's own handwritten script notations.

The graphics helped tie together the remarkable variety of artifacts and images on display, including personal photos, costumes, props, script pages, storyboard sketches, set photos, movie posters, and other memorabilia.

The exhibition also featured “De Niro, New York,” a six-screen supercut that weaved together clips of more than 40 of De Niro’s characters interacting with each other.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
