Harbor Way

Identity and signage for a promenade and park in the heart of a new multi-use development in Boston’s Seaport district.

The program creates a sense of place for Harbor Way within the district and connects it to the history of the area.

Elegant pole-like directional signs with arrows evoke hand-crafted New England weathervanes.

The logo draws from the chevron pattern of the boardwalk, the forest trees in the park and Harbor Way’s position as a central path.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
