The brand identity evokes the warmth and spontaneity of Thai hospitality.
The identity celebrates casual imperfection through handmade typography, loose illustrations, and collage elements that capture the personality of a living shophouse.
Inside the restaurant, the brand extends through murals and art installations that merge past and present into one vibrant visual collage, creating a joyful, lived-in atmosphere.
In Thai, “เล่นเล่น” (LenLen) means “just for fun”, which serves as the strategic heart of this new contemporary Thai restaurant in Manhattan: the contrast between culinary rigor and excellence, with an unfussy, welcoming, casual, yet elevated dining experience.
LenLen serves traditional and reimagined Thai cuisine, in a beautiful, well-designed setting that replicates Thai shophouses, making guests feel at home in a relaxed vibe. Thanks to its daring kitchen, the restaurant was recently added to the Michelin Guide for 2026.
The brand identity evokes the warmth and spontaneity of Thai hospitality, avoiding minimalism or overpolish. A custom hand-drawn typographic system and bespoke illustrations reinforce LenLen not just as a restaurant, but as a living expression of Thai creativity and connection.
The identity celebrates casual imperfection through handmade typography, loose illustrations, and collage elements that capture the personality of a living shophouse. The strategy focused on making every brand touchpoint—from menus to signage—feel personal, tactile, and full of character.
The typographic palette is wide, with four distinct voices. First, a custom hand-drawn bubble typeface anchors the identity with a lively, kinetic tone. Second, slanted, fluid strokes mirror the energy of street lettering in Bangkok, balancing nostalgia with humor. Third, Manu, a typeface by Typotheque, mimics informal handwriting in a dynamic way. Fourth, Arial, the default typeface by excellence, available in every computer and visible throughout street vernacular, is used as the body text.
The illustrations echo the same hand-drawn slant, mixing icons from Thai daily life—plastic stools, noodle bowls, tiger-cats—with collaged family photos from co-founder Wanisa Torboonsitikorn’s archive.

The brand transforms dining into a cultural experience—a place where guests feel not like customers, but like friends hanging out in someone’s bright, welcoming living room.
Thank you to LenLen co-founders Peter Tondreau and Wanisa Torboonsitikorn for their collaboration!
