Pentagram

London Design Biennale 2021

Identity for the first major design event in the capital since the start of the global pandemic.

The team at Pentagram considered the challenge of how design can respond to the issues the world is currently facing, and what design can actually do to help solve them.

Pentagram’s identity for this year’s London Design Biennale is both thought-provoking and inspiring, perfectly expressing the aims of 2021’s Biennale and providing a call to action for the whole design community.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
