‘Pentagram Remixed’

Design for an exhibition honoring Pentagram's 40th anniversary at the 7th Ningbo International Design Biennial.

A timeline introduces the Pentagram partners and when they joined the firm.
Each partner is represented by a life-size graphic figure.
The History zone features 40 posters created for our anniversary, arranged in stacks on the gallery
The Scale display showcases the wide range of our work in a supersized mural of project images.

Rather than stage a traditional historical survey, the designers wanted to place Pentagram’s work in unusual contexts that would reflect our constantly evolving point of view and allow visitors to make their own connections and associations.

The Prints section of the exhibition.
The Prints gallery displays 40 classic book designs.
Visitors are asked to match up the covers of the books with their spreads.
The covers are displayed in the center, surrounded by their interior pages on the gallery walls.
In the Marks zone visitors interact with marks, symbols and logos by projecting them on the wall.
Visitors place a disk in a projector to reveal the image.
Over 400 logos are featured on the disks.
The Diversity zone deconstructs our Black Book and spatially maps the projects and pages.
Projects are grouped according to qualities like size and shape.
Pages are embossed with the 'P' monogram.
The projects are identified on the walls.
The Narrative zone screens 'The Forty Story' short film created for our anniversary.
Entrance to the Motion section.
A highlights reel of our motion graphics is shown in the Motion zone.
