Pentagram

Museum Tinguely

Visual identity for Swiss museum dedicated to the work of painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely.

The identity created by Pentagram transplants the spirit and passion of Jean Tinguely’s art into the museum’s visual identity.

Drawing inspiration from the shapes found in Tinguely’s iconic music machines, Pentagram created a bespoke typeface that is used across the museum’s identity.

The logo’s perfectly rounded ‘G’ has been rotated to represent the movement of the large industrial wheels in Tinguely’s installations.

Pentagram also redesigned the website, signage and other collateral for the space.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
